Understanding the cause
The cause of beatification is a formal Church process based on the collection, examination and evaluation of testimony and documents.
The Roman phase
After the diocesan phase, the documentation was sent to the competent bodies of the Holy See. This stage involves historical and theological study according to the Church’s procedures.
Venerable Servant of God
On 23 March 2026 the heroic nature of his virtues was recognised. Giuseppe Castagnetti may therefore be called Venerable Servant of God.
This recognition is not beatification. Any subsequent stage remains subject to the evaluation and decisions of the competent ecclesiastical authorities.
